I'm hiding--why not blog...

So Thing 1 currently has a friend over and they're causing all kinds of ruckus in the back of the house. Army Guy has gone into deep hiding in the bedroom with tv as loud as humanly possible. He's also determined that if he lays VERY still he's some how camo'd into the bed. I'm trying to figure out how he thinks that his blue/white shirt is any way camo'd into the greenish comforter, but hey, he's the one in the Army. :) Anyways, in an effort to sidetrack my brain from the utter destruction that may or may not be going on in the back I'm blogging. I'm brilliant.

I haven't blogged in a while for reasons I don't understand. I need to be sharing my stories more often. Thing 2 is giving me plenty of material these days. For example:

Army Guy to Thing 2 as he wraps gifts: I do know what I'm doing
Thing 2 to Army Guy: Are you sure because I'm not so sure.

Thing 2 and Army Guy have recently decided it's more fun to pick on each other then try to get along. It's GREAT (she says with so much sarcasm it's almost painful to say)! I'm trying to convince Army Guy that he's actually an adult, so he's SUPPOSED to not stoop to her level, but so far I'm completely unsuccessful. Completely.

At least Thing 1 is past this phase. Although, Thing 1 has recently resorted to the stomping/door stomping actions to demonstrate exactly how much he doesn't want to do chores, homework, or generally anything I recommend. Sigh. As goes my life. :) Thing 1 is still excelling in school and can I just say God Bless School and the 7 hours he's not under my feet.

As an example of our insanity, we'll be welcoming Baby #3 in June. Yah, I'm not completely sure what we were thinking. It was one of those "well let's try for a few months and if it works it works and if not that's cool too" and 1 month later it'd worked. Surprise!!!

Well the noise has subsided and I think I've worked up the courage to go peek down the hall. Wish me luck!

Fall is here!

Fall is here! :) Yay! After spending two years without seaons, we finally have seasons again. Thing 2 pointed out that the leaves were getting old today and it occured to me that we haven't seen leaves get old in two years. Who are we kidding, we haven't seen leaves in two years. :) Ha! So, welcome cold mornings and Pumpkin Spice coffee creamer!

Thing 1 has started riding his bike to school. He had a crash and scraped up his elbow, but he got right back up, got on the bike and (I quote) "worked through the pain". He's so dramatic. Hehehehe. School is going very well for him. His teacher is still awesome. He's making lots of friends in the neighborhood too. For his Birthday, he asked to go camping, so we did our First Family Camping trip mid-September. It went well--Thing 1 caught a fish, we saw an alligator in the pond, and we munched on Smores! Then for his actual party, he requested a Lego Party. Yup, we actually INVITED kids over to make a Lego Mess. :) He had an awesome time and I successfully made a Lego Brick Cake...wasn't quite thinking when I used blue icing, but oh well.

Thing 2 has been attending pre-school twice a week. She seems to like it, after the initial drop off scream. :) She's mastered the "meltdown" fit. It's pretty entertaining to watch. Ha! She's also started using her imagination a TON more these days. She "cooks" dinner on a regular basis. She has a new friend "Teddy"--her favorite stuffed animal. Teddy has to go EVERYWHERE that we go. More importantly, Teddy has to be buckled EVERYTIME that we get in the car. So yes, we have a new routine--buckle Thing 2 and then buckle Teddy. Army Guy discovered that is the new SOP the other day when Thing 2 came completely unglued because Army Guy was driving away without Teddy being buckled. Army Guy was then lectured for a good 20 mins about how unsafe it was to drive with Teddy being unbuckled. Hehehee....

Army Guy is half way done with school. He'll be off to Ranger School in January--64 days of VERY limited contact. If he gets through it in one shot (which is VERY rare), we'll be moving to Fort Campbell around April. However, his new unit isn't expecting him until July. Kids and I are planning random roadtrips during Ranger School. I'm not sure that's sane, but when have I ever been sane. :) Ha!

I've discovered I'm being anti-social thus far here. I'm not sure why other then we're only here a short time and I feel like I'm recharging here. :) All is good!

Okay, I can't figure out how to move my pics around so I apologize for the randomness of their placement! Ugh! Sometimes technology kicks my butt....sigh....

Army Guy is SO old!

Hey all,

For those of you who don't know Army Guy turns 30 on Sunday. I know...he's SOOOOO OLD. ;) It's the first birthday in I can't remember how long that we were all together at, so of course, I went all out. :) He got a birthday gift he wanted...not needed. And for the first time in at least 3 years, it wasn't TA-50 (seriously...the Army has issued him that on his bday for the last 3 years). :) I guess that's also a sign of things being good--getting bday gifts you want...not NEED. Anyhow, we had a small bday party here tonight. It was great...close friends, good food, lots of beer, and the bestest cake ever! Pics are below.

Moving FINALLY Done!

Well, our move is finally complete in my opinion. The Cable & Internet gods blessed us with their presence today. :) Whoo-hoo!!! For those of you who don't know this was not completely the move from hell (which I define as having all of you personal belongings dumped into the ocean like an aquaintenance expierenced moving overseas), but it wasn't without drama. There was funny, sad, frustrating, death, sickness, new arrival, broken stuff, and typical military housing. :) But I survived it all due to the constant charge on my cell phone, so that I could call dear friends and vent about how horrid things were. Thanks guys!

Army Guy is all settled at school. He's one of the young (career wise) ones, but he's still kicking butt and taking names. He's able to come home between PT and having to go to school and he's done for the day around 4pm, so we're seeing a LOT more of him these days. Hopefully that will continue to go well. Ha!

Thing 1 is enrolled in 1st Grade!! More importantly, school starts August 5th. WHOO-HOO!!!! This summer has been rough on all of us, so I know he's looking forward to having "tons and tons of 1st Grade homework". Well, I guess looking forward to it wouldn't be the best description. Hahaha. There are tons of kids in our neighborhood, so I'm looking forward to Thing 1 getting out and about and meeting new people.
Thing 2 will start a preschool program here the end of July and OMG we are ALL looking forward to it. She's so busy....well busy is the nice way to say it. Christine and Lori are feeling my pain. I think there should be some kind of boot camp for 3-4year olds. I threatened to give her to a Drill Sargent today. He laughed...said I probably disciplined harder then they do these days...but that's another rant.

Schnitzel and Porter have grown to tolerate each other. Porter still thinks Schnitzel's tail is a chew toy and Schnitzel still thinks he will ALWAYS be bigger then Porter. Little does he know. Although, it's very obvious that Schnitzel will always have his Daschund speed over Porter Bulldog "I soooooo don't care"-ness. :)

I finally got out of my funk. Moving puts me in a funk. It's that whole anticipating every different option known to man. The funk moves in after everything chills out--kids & I inprocessed, boxes emptied, house liveable, but schedule still crazy. But I'm feeling better these days, so I have hope that the worst has passed...hahaha.

I will post pictures of the house over the next few days. We're still planning on only being here for about 6-9 months. Hopefully, we'll have a good idea in September where Army would like to send us next.
