Things I've Learned During 2013 Summer Road Trip Insanity (So Far....)

1. Taking The Husband on a road trip must be preparation for taking 3 teenagers on a road trip.

2. Stopping every 1.5 hours for randomness makes me super cranky.

3. Trying to do 18 hours of driving in one day makes me lose it...at the 13 hour mark...in the middle of New Mexico.

4. The fish travels better than anyone.

5. God gives you humor when you need it, especially on I-70 just outside Salina, KS (billboard quoting
"The Lord's eyes see all" verse next to Adult SuperStore)

6. It takes 3 annual summer trips for my children to get comfortable at a friend's house.

7. The ability for children to watch 2 different movies in van is worth the debt of van.

8. The wind will always blow perpendicular to which ever way I might think about travelling.

9. There was a mass hotel building event in Bartlesville, OK over the last 5 years. I wonder where anyone stayed before they had these at least 6 new hotels?

10. Once my children are comfortable at a friend's house, they rummage through their belongings.

11. The Wichita Zoo will never be as cool to kids as it is to me, no matter how many times I make them go.

12. Facetime with Daddy is the best babysitter ever.

13. Army isn't the only profession that requires last minute plane ticket changes.

14. United Airline's $200 change ticket fee is the most frustrating waste of money I've ever spent.

15. My children are part trucker.

16. When in the presence of my mother, I no longer hear my children from the hours of 9pm-9am.

17. Turns out, I really don't miss weather after spending 2 nights in a row with a 4 year old and a Dachshund curled up behind me while it storms.

18. When The Husband is bored, he's willing to do anything to subside boredom to include replacing windows at my parent's house.

19. Mothers should cohabitate with similar mothers until all children are teenagers.

**Stay tuned for more updates on our return trip...**
